WHO WE ARE

ZORNITZA

Bulgarian Folk Dance Ensemble

OUR MISSION

Engaging With the Local Community

Dance Ensemble ZORNITZA is a not-for-profit organization whose primary goal is to preserve and promote Bulgarian folklore, tradition, and culture through dance, music, song, and authentic folk costumes.

We aim to study dances from each of the areas and present them at Bulgarian and multicultural events and festivals, applying the original steps, music, and costumes from those places.

Bulgarian folk dances, according to their different way of performance, are grouped into six folklore areas. Each of the ethnographic areas differs in costumes, rhythm, and dynamics of the people, and is influenced by the history, lifestyle, and customs characteristic of this part of our country, but sharp boundaries cannot be set, since they have mutually influenced each other. We aim to study dances from each of the areas and present them at Bulgarian and multicultural events and festivals, applying the original steps, music, and costumes from those places.
